PIA-SM: multicast based IPv6 anycast routing protocol
نویسندگان
چکیده
Today, the use of anycast address is quite limited. One of the reasons is that there is no routing protocol providing a global anycasting service. In this paper we design and implement a new anycast routing protocol called PIA-SM (Protocol Independent Anycast – Sparse Mode). We focus on PIM-SM (Protocol Independent Multicast – Sparse Mode), which is one of multicast routing protocols available now, to develop an anycast routing protocol, because anycast and multicast have many similar properties. We modified PIM-SM based on differences between multicast and anycast. We next describe the technical issues to be solved in the implementation of PIA-SM. We also show some experimental results to demonstrate PIA-SM, and verify that PIA-SM enables routers to forward an anycast packet to an appropriate node of multiple candidate nodes.

This paper illustrates the methodology and architecture for network addressing and routing in which datagram packets routed through mathematical topological nearest node in a cluster of potential receivers that are being identified by equivalent destination address space. Mathematical framework is proposed to improve the Anycast usage. KeywordsIP Anycast, Multicast, Mobile IPV6, Addressing, Rou...

Anycast is a new communication paradigm defined in IPv6. Different from unicast and multicast routing, routers on the internetwork deliver an anycast datagram to the nearest available node. By shifting the task of resolving destinations from source node to internetwork, anycasting is highly flexible and cost-effective on routing process and inherently load-balanced and robust on server selectio...
متن کاملDesign and implementation of routing protocols for IPv6 global anycast communications
Anycast is a new IPv6 feature that supports service–oriented address assignments in IPv6 networks. However, because there are no protocol standards or even consensus on routing protocols, inter–segment anycast communications are not yet available. In this paper, we first discuss problems and solutions on inter–segment anycast communications. Based on our findings, we propose two routing protoco...
متن کاملMulti-shared-trees based multicast routing control protocol using anycast selection
A novel internet multicast routing protocol is presented to possess efficiency and effectiveness for multicast packet routing with short delay, high throughput, resource utilization and scalability for a single multicast group g. The protocol has two features: (1) Multiple Shared-Trees (MST) are configured to provide efficient, dynamic and quality multicast routing; (2) Anycasting approach is a...
